It was in Vancouver, during the summer of 1992, that Marc Boivin entered the world of improvisation through his encounter with Peter Bingham and Andrew Harwood. This was to be the beginning of a rich journey, leading to 14 years of annual EDAM summer workshops in Vancouver (1992-2008), to the improvisation group The Echo Case (Peter Bingham, Andrew Harwood, Boivin, Ron Samworth, Coat Cooke and Robert Meister) and to a series of improvisation projects with various artists from Montreal and beyond.

His collaboration with Andrew Harwood became particularly fruitful, inspiring the Harwood-Boivin duo to participate in the projects of AH HA Productions on many occasions.

With R.A.F.T. 70, he acquired a strong taste for the unpredictable, a state akin to the process of choreographic creation, and confirmed his fascination with others, with exchange and risk-taking. For improvisation to happen, it is essential to allow others to feed it, inhabit it, shape it freely. The artistic direction of the company is based on improvisation, invitations to collaborate and the sharing of a very personal and singular creativity.
