This experience showed him the creative potential that could exist between the realms of choreography and guided improvisation. After that, in 2008, the creation of his first solo Impact began to take shape. This was followed by The Fictions Project, which included the pieces Withrow Park for Duskdances and Chroma key for firstthingsfirst productions. In the spring of 2010, he created X/Y for the students of LADMMI in collaboration with the music school at the Université de Montréal. Work on X/Y led to a desire to deepen his exploration of the relationship and dialogue that is possible between the human body and music. The further exploration of his creative relationship to music is at the heart of his close collaboration with the contemporary composer, Ana Sokolovic and the Quatuor Bozzini. The premiere of this work Une idée sinon vraie… has been presented in October 2012.

The act of choreographing evolves through communication with others, the sharing of knowledge and energy and an openness to random actions and chance. In his first creations, Boivin was interested in the influence we exert over each other, the idea of destiny and the path we choose to get there.[/vc_column_text][uncode_index el_id=”index-322484″ loop=”size:10|order_by:date|post_type:post|categories:88″ gutter_size=”3″ post_items=”media|featured|onpost|original,title,text|excerpt,sep-one|full” screen_lg=”1000″ screen_md=”600″ screen_sm=”480″ single_overlay_opacity=”50″ single_padding=”2″][vc_column_text]Creations in educational context :

Creation for students of the School of Toronto Dance Theater.

Creation for students of the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, March 2014

Under stand, Toronto, November 2012, School of the Toronto Dance Theater

Partition, Montréal, December 2011, LADMMI

Studio Road Movie, Toronto, November 2011, School of the Toronto Dance Theater

The comment, Winnipeg, May 2010, School of Contemporary Dancers

X/Y, Montréal, May 2010, Montreal, LADMMI

Forever Bach, last track, Winnipeg, May 2008, School of Contemporary Dancers

(Can’t) Say, Toronto, November 2006, School of the Toronto Dance Theater

Aria, Winnipeg, October 2006, Aspirants company, School of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet

La fracture, May 2006, Montreal, LADMMI

The Morse Sonata, Winnipeg, December 2005, School of Contemporary Dancers

June 19th, Winnipeg, December 2003, School of Contemporary Dancers

Then One Day, Toronto, May 2003, School of the Toronto Dance Theater

Travel me still, Winnipeg, May 2001, School of Contemporary Dancers

The Comment, Winnipeg, May 2010, School of Contemporary Dancers.

X/Y, mai 2010, Montreal, LADMMI.

Inside,Toronto, December 2009, School of the Toronto Dance Theater.

Forever Bach, last track, Winnipeg, May 2008, School of Contemporary Dancers.

(Can’t) Say, Toronto, November 2006, School of the Toronto Dance Theater.

Aria, Winnipeg, October 2006, Aspirants company, School of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

La fracture, May 2006, Montreal, LADMMI.

The Morse Sonata, Winnipeg, December 2005, School of Contemporary Dancers.

June 19th, Winnipeg, December 2003, School of Contemporary Dancers.

Then One Day, Toronto, May 2003, School of the Toronto Dance Theater.

Travel me still, Winnipeg, May 2001, School of Contemporary Dancers.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

photo credit : John Lauener, on the picture: Kate Alton, Kate Franklin and Kate Holden

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column column_width_percent=”100″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ medium_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″ width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]In 2007, Marc Boivin created R.A.F.T. 70, an improvisational project for Andrew […]
